CPES on the Move 11.24.15

CPES-logoAs the year winds down, CPES continues to gear up for an exciting lineup of events for our members.

I want to thank our friends at New England Women in Energy and the Environment (NEWIEE) and the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA) for partnering with us on two great events to kick off our 2015/16 season. Our September forum on competitive transmission was a first of its kind in New England, and the annual “21st Century Energy:  What’s the Deal?” conference continued a longstanding partnership with the state’s premier business organization. We took a fresh approach in developing both events and the feedback so far has been positive.

I want to encourage you to make plans to join us December 9 at The Society Room on Pratt Street in Hartford as we celebrate the holidays and our organization’s 30 year anniversary. We have a great lineup of our founders and past presidents who will share their perspectives on the role of CPES in Connecticut’s changing energy landscape. Our keynote speaker, Gordon van Welie, will share his insights on the grid of the future from his vantage point as president and CEO of ISO New England. You won’t want to miss this end-of-year event. Registration for this event is now open Click here to register. I want to especially thank our friends who stepped forward as sponsors:

  •      Connecticut Municipal Electric Energy Cooperative
  •      Schneider Electric
  •      Starion Energy
  •      Pullman & Comley, LLC
  •      Robinson + Cole
  •      North American Power
  •      O&G Industries, Inc.
  •      Cammarata Government Affairs
  •      DCO Energy
  •      GEI Consultants

In 2015, the CPES Board of Directors created an Advisory Committee with a distinguished group of state and regional leaders. Their early input on programming and communications has been invaluable. We look forward to drawing from their expertise throughout the year. Please join me in welcoming them to the organization at our December 9 event.

Work is also already underway for our March 9 Energy, Environment & Economic Development conference. And I am pleased to announce that CPES is working to create new opportunities in 2016 to support young professionals and others transitioning into the energy industry in Connecticut. I will have more to report on these initiatives in coming months. As always, I would welcome your input so we can continue to bring you timely information and create valuable networking opportunities.

As we head into the holiday season, I hope you have an enjoyable time with your friends and families. I look forward to seeing you on December 9 in Hartford.   Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you.
